The Client
Barwon Water
Barwon Water is Victoria's largest regional urban water authority. They provide world standard water and sewerage services to more than 270,000 permanent residents over 8,100 km2.
Barwon Water has developed a Reclaimed Water Policy to encourage private sector investment in recycled water infrastructure and recycled water agreements, in order to reach 25% of recycled water by 2015 (2007: 13%)
The Client's Needs
The Geelong region has endured a severe and prolonged drought. Barwon Water decided to substantially upgrade the sewage treatment process at the Black Rock water reclamation plant to create a more sustainable biosolids management system, using a thermal dryer.
Barwon Water also needed a solution to treat the final treated effluent from the Black Rock water reclamation plant for reuse as process water onsite.
The MF plant at the time needed to be upgraded.
Veolia's Solution
Veolia Water Technologies has a long-term relationship with Barwon Water. Veolia set up in 1992 the Microfiltration unit and have since supplied various other treatment plants and service for Barwon Water since then
Veolia Water Technologies was awarded a contract to design, build, supply, install and commission a Reuse Membrane Filtration Plant to treat the final treated effluent from the Black Rock Wastewater Reclamation Plant for reuse as process water and wash down water for sludge dewatering trains and irrigation of local grounds.
